After going to Kauai for our 10 year anniversary, we knew we wanted to come again with kids and parents, and so after all the hard work this year....we were ready....
My dad summarized our trip.
2014 Kauai, Hawaii
Fri the
20th
- Up early,
first full day.
- Poi Pu Beach,
nice snorkel, some fish, eel, bottom too shallow. Will go back next week.
- Went to see
Blow hole, rewarded with turtles!
- Lunch at Puka
dog.
- Late
afternoon pool.
Sat the
21st
- Up early.
- Early drive
to Tunnels Beach, park in state lot, long walk, great snorkeling, great
beach.
- Drive through
Princeville
- FaceTime with
Lilly
- C and J date
night, out to dinner, very good,
- Night swim
for kids.
Sun the
22nd
- Up as usual.
- Early start to
Lygate Beach, nice protected cove.
- Anne and Chad
work out, rent bikes, shaved ice for Barrs.
- Back to pool
for all afternoon read.
- BBQed ribs,
late dinner.
Mon the
23rd
- Up as usual.
- All had
morning bike rides.
- Left for
Waimea at 11. Stopped at 4 lookouts: traditional, Ni hau Island, Pali and
Pali. Long drive home.
- Stopped for
supplies.
- Pool time for
Barrs.
- A & C
date night, out for pupus.
Tue the
24th
- Up as usual.
- Out to
Hanalei Bay, rained, still great. Sand fort with moat, watched tri leave.
- Al Pastor
Tacos.
- No pool for
me.
- BBQed chicken
strips.
- A little TV
Wed the 25th

Yup, got up.
·
Little more relaxed start, off to Salt Pond
Beach, ok for kids. Crowded with local groups of day campers. IB and NB had good time. Very hot, sand and
sun.

Back to pool time.
·
Dinner at Dukes sand bar. Walked and drove the
grounds at the Marriott.
·
Movie night with Shadow Recruit.
Thurs the 26th
·
Up at a normal time.
·
Ready early and out to Poipu Beach, IB and NB
are very water savvy now, snorkeled on the far side of the spit, murky but
great. Monk seal came in for a rest.
·
Literally the rest of the day at the pool, Isaac
now does backflips.
·
Dinner at Oasis
Fri the 27th
·
Out to the North Shore by 9ish.
·
Drove to the end of the road at KA beach, no
parking. Returned to Tunnels Beach, made our own parking spot. Walked in the
rain, wonderful snorkel, long walk back.
·
Had late lunch at Puka Dog in Hanalei.
·
As always, finished at the pool.
·
Late dinner of grandma’s tacos.
Sat the 28th
·
Day 9 of 9, (we don't count travel days).
·
Good choice to stay at home and prep.
·
Pool early, very intense, first burn of trip.
·
Nap time, A & C rode bikes to return gear
and stuff.
·
Closed the pool, NB loves the thrill of the
slide, IB is a fish and now is a legit swimmer.
·
Dinner at Bubbas, free for me.
·
