So a funny story....I went to starbucks before work tonight and when I went to pay, the cashier told me that the car in front had paid for my "drink". I was quite happy and amazed and went to get some cash out for my banana bread. As I was handing the barista my 10 dollar bill, she was saying about one day this happened for 43 cars in a row. I was like, "wow!" She took my bill and said "thanks!!!!"...really emphatically. i thought, does she think this is all for her, this is for the banana bread...I want change, dang it. I guess the car before me had in fact paid for my whole order. (maybe? I wish i would have just clarified with the barista...would have made things so much easier and less confusing, for me at least:))
There were no cars behind me, so I don't really know what happened with the 10 dollar bill, but I hope it was paid forward. I am so embarrassed that I wanted change back. Why didn't I just pay it forward in theory to the next car that came through. If I could go back and change that whole interaction i would. It was an awesome thing, and I screwed it up by being greedy. GEEZ. I suck. but am gonna be better next time. promise.
