on all fours...beginning stages of crawling.

Natalie hanging out....7.5 months...and pushing her self backwards. It's so funny, she is always in the corner of the room...one foot shoved in a couch, underneath a table. against the wall:)

Seattle and back home...

a really bad picture of the seattle public library. It's actually a beautiful building. But i AM a sucker for libraries.
I had a conference in Seattle that I like to attend and haven't been for 2 years....so I got approved (I have 2 conference days per year) and packaged the kids and Chad:) and had a great 2 days up north.

This is the spot where we got accosted by a mentally ill woman that wouldn't leave us alone and stood at our stroller and refused to move. Chad stepped in between her and the kids. I called the police and she finally left us alone. Maybe it was our huge orange loaner stroller that set her off. Who knows?

Natalie is able to sit up on her own without a pillow behind her. She also knows how to pull her toys out. So cute. She is growing up so fast.

the Most Important person in Isaac's life...Buzz Lightyear.

Florence, Oregon: jan 7-9, 2011

Brad's family has a cabin in Florence Oregon....which we are so blessed to have visited beginning of January. It is always wonderful to have those friends that are life-er's and that's what these guys are. And while it's hard to be the first ones in the group to have kids...it's so awesome for our group to love on them and for our kids to bond with our friends, as well.

Brad feeding Natalie...ahhh! he thought I was messy feeding her, so I said give it a try:)

I don't have many other pics because after Chad and the group went to the casino friday night and played ping pong, chad woke up under the weather on saturday with a stomach bug. He was literally in bed all day. He felt better on Sunday...but I was basically was running the show without my main man.

Best day Ever!

Okay maybe top 10 best day contender...

My mom came down last night and we had a great evening, dinner, bathtime, kids in bed...wine...american idol on dvr...Chad late night run to dairy queen...with Anne, because Grammie could stay at the house. That hasn't happened for 2.75 years! so fun.

Then Poppa showed up at breakfast to start a fabulous day. First, Poppa and Grammie took Isaac to Petco to get dog food for Gracie (dad forgot it at home...oops!) and to get a frog for the fishtank. So sad that, "Ribbit" went "bye-bye" a few weeks ago (the petco guy didn't allow my parents to get a new frog if it wasn't a heated tank, oh well). And went to get new shoes for Poppa and Isaac. He has had the same shoes since Dan's wedding in June and has been complaining his feet hurt. He is in size 9 now!

On the way back home they drove by the airport and looked at the planes (something i have never thought of doing?) and a flight instructor saw them and invited them to look at 2 planes. Isaac got to get inside and put on the headset. My mom has pics on her phone. Such an awesome experience for the little man.

Chad I decided to skedaddle to a movie while the kiddos ate lunch and slept. And we saw true grit. I LOVED it. It may have been that I was sleep deprived from working 3 12 hour night shifts, but I cried and just thought it was so wonderfully told, the ending wasn't fabulous, but anyways....

Came home and kids up from nap and out for a walk in our loaner stroller to the new park above our house. 10 minute walk straight uphill but so worth it.
Then home and packed up kids to go out to La Hacienda and dinner was wonderful. It's amazing we are able to take our 2 kids our to a restaurant. We are blessed.

Storytime, Bedtime, Blazer time, showed mom and dad Portlandia and then facebook time and blogtime...

I told you it was good.

Pics out of order but who cares.

I think my mom behind is hilarious!

wowzer

15 days since posting...might be a record....
Well we did back to back mini vacations to Gresham, then work, then Florence. We have been back for a week and just crazy organizing. I have about 5 posts to catch up on "life" for the blog.
Working full time is great but it IS different. My life is almost the same except 2 things have been neglected the blog...and the library.

My theme this month is organizing and boy am I...from house, to coupons, to schedule. It's awesome. And well needed for us.

We even started a chore list...like Laundry Monday and Floor Friday. Every day is packed with household to-do's but it'll help not to have to spend a whole day doing these things. Just 1 hour daily?...that would be my goal. And we kept Thu and Sunday's as freebies.

hoping to have some blog time tomorrow night.

Purple feet and a musical heart

"Acrocyanosis is a painless disorder caused by constriction or narrowing of small blood vessels in the skin of affected patients. The spasm of the blood vessels decreases the amount of blood that passes through them, resulting in less blood being delivered to the hands and feet. The hands may be the main area affected. The affected areas turn blue and become cold and sweaty. Localized swelling may also occur. Emotion and cold temperatures can worsen the symptoms, while warmth can decrease symptoms. The disease is seen mainly in women and the effect of the disorder is mainly cosmetic. People with the disease tend to be uncomfortable, with sweaty, cold, bluish colored hands and feet."

Natalie has had pretty sensitive feet since she was born. The normal dark, poor circulation she has as a newborn, but she just never grew out of it.
At her 6 month check up, I mentioned it to her doctor, and low and behold it happened right there, her feet turned purple just while she was sitting. I wondered if it was her femoral artery getting occluded, because circulation would return upon standing. But it also would happen at home after lying and taking a nap...i would change her diaper and there her purple feet would be. Her pediatrician checked her out and thought it wasn't anything too alarming but still wanted us to see a pediatric cardiologist to make sure she wasn't overlooking anything.
Well, we saw the pediatric cardiologist last week and she was diagnosed with the above problem, acrocyanosis. It is harmless, painless and nothing we can do to prevent it. Changes in temperature can exacerbate it...cold to hot, hot to cold. What he told us is that basically her blood vessels in her feet are having vasospasms and decreasing the amount of blood to them. He said, it will get worse before it gets better and she will outgrow it around 2-3 yrs.
He also heard a murmur, and did an echo right away (to make sure her decreased circulation wasn't a result of a "whole" in her heart), everything looks good for her heart. She has Still's murmur, named after the physician who discovered it.

"In fact, no one knows exactly what causes a Still’s murmur. People have looked very closely using ultrasound at the hearts of children with this murmur, and compared them to the hearts of children who do not. No difference has ever been identified. It is very clear however, that the Still’s murmur is not caused by any type of heart defect. Having listened to thousands of children this murmur, my personal opinion is that young children have very healthy, elastic hearts that “ring” when they beat, in very much the same way that a soda bottle makes a musical sound when you blow over the top. Indeed, I suspect the Still’s murmur is a sign of health, given how generally healthy the children are who have it."

So we are very happy that our little Natalie has 2 "normal" things, purple feet and a musical heart.
